Description

Featuring my OC Takumi, from my original novel "Venereth" (working title, probably).
Concluding my reference series on my main original characters, here's Takumi in his natural habitat. He's a quiet guy, and he holds many awards, among them "tallest character", "stiffest hair" and "most drawn by others". I wonder what part of him that makes him so popular (yes Ing, I'm asking you).

Takumi of the Rain: Weather Dragon, 1.80 cm tall. Fully Kuanian, if a dragon can belong to a nation, that is. He is, as mentioned, a Weather Dragon, a kind of asian looking water dragon (ref: maysohma.deviantart.com/art/Th…) with power over the weather. These dragons can take human form and are very human in mind, unlike other dragons, who often have more beastly mindsets. They have a strong sense of ownership and a love for humans, and can often find it comfortable to guard a human dwelling whilst thinking they rule it. Despite their love for humans (and elves), they seldom make contact with them, which means that Takumi is pretty weird for a Weather Dragon. In fact, he's so fond of them he ended up marrying a half-elf (Hinata). Takumi grew up is first perhaps 30 years with his mother, before he was grown and she left him. He then guarded their village alone. Takumi's abilities are to take the form of a dragon (or the other way around), to control and merge with water, to produce density and cold to create winds, and, in hot weather, produce storms. Using these abilites, he steers the weather around him very well. He can also produce his own winds, lightning and of course, water. In human form, he is a strong fencer and martial artist, and he often takes advantage of his brute dragon strength and weather powers (though these are both greatly diminished in this form).

This last drawing in my series was one of the simpler ones. I didn't try my hand at anything new or crazy, like water-colours or burning light-sources, but I made sure to add in some background, as I hope to continue drawing more full pieces in the future. I couldn't quite avoid a background either, considering the pose I drew him in cx Well, anyways, I will probably draw a proper drawing of his dragon form next, so we can have a full reference on this character. Why? The answer is pretty simple actually; It was easier to art a dragon character, and what I draw I want to know better, and so I grew attached. c:

This looks really great tho! Especillay love how your colouring skills are developing. ^^
If I was to critique anything it would be I felt you gave up a little on the background, seeing how the flowerfield is nowhere near the strenght of colour that you find in the character. If anything this simply makes it blend with the lighter sky behind.
But as far as the character go, you have done an amazing job and I really like how you are progressing. ^^
(It is also really sweet to see you draw scenery despite disliking it so. cx )
